Ron Letarte, a Navy photographer from Maine and stationed at Sangley Point in the Philippines, and I become friends, We have a number of adventures including an undercover assignment for the Office of Naval Investigations where we pose as gay journalists to photograph a transvestite ball. Cross-dressing natives had been luring sailors into dark places and mugging them. Letarte shoots an informational slide presentation and I was there to produce a mug book for criminal identification. As a reward for a job well done, Letarte wrangles he and I a trip to Hong Kong. We hit the streets with piles of saved money and buy bags full of lens and cameras. Latarte goes Nikon, but I finally buy my Hasselblad.
