I call this photograph “Hong Kong Dollar.” It’s the first shot taken with my brand new Hasselblad. Letarte and I walk out of the camera store, and I load a fresh roll of Plus-X-Pan. I look around the whirling twirling town to see what comes our way. Across traffic I see an incredible face shuffle along. We give chase. We scare the man half to death, but he can’s run fast as in each pocket he has a bottle of wine. The bottles clank and he slows to protect his treasure. We don’t speak each other’s language, but I reassure and with soft words. I lure him closer, hand outstretched holding a Hong Kong Dollar. The first of thousands of Hasselblad images is in the can.
